Milt Masur

Milt Masur: Born 1937, Brooklyn, NY. I am a physician transitioning to a career in art. Practicing medicine is demanding and
can sometimes limit creative growth. Fortunately, I now have time to devote to art. I am an "emerging artist", no longer young
but tapping what Betty Friedan called "The Fountain of age." I believe that older people have enormous potential
for creativity. Art has also been a way to heal past wounds.

In the past I had much contact with various aspects of art, eventually combining bas-relief sculpture with collage and
over-painting. Sculpture imparts powerful delineation and identity; color adds beauty and wonder. My works are figurative
with impressionistic and abstract elements. My years as a physician bend my perception towards a humanistic ethos. Self
discovery is OK but not solipsism. Art has a quasi religious value to me.
